Does 3cc Restylane lip filler matter before lip fat graft?

Question

I have had 3 cc of restalyn in my lips in the last 6 months. Due to price and how much I love it, I want more permanent results. I am looking at fat grafting to my lips. Is there anything I need to do with the filler prior to the procedure? Anything I should consider before doing lip augmentation?

Ideally you would want most of the restylane to dissipate before you proceed with fat augmentation. This would allow the fat augmentation to be more accurate. It does not make sense to overcorrect in anticipation of the restylane resolving and you don't want to do the fat augmentation twice if it can be avoided. Fat can be more permanent but does also fade with time, especially in the high movement area of the lips. Waiting 6 months to one year before proceeding with the fat augmentation would be ideal.

The filler needs to be removed before getting fat. Three cc's is a large amount of filler for lips and needs to be removed or gone so the normal lip shape and volume can be seen.

In order for a provider to make an assessment they should ideally be looking at and manipulated a tissue without fillers.

Fillers can be reversed with enzymatic injections before attempting a more permanent solution such as fat transfer.

Fillers give more accurate, predictable result and are more forgiving.

Staying with fillers is a better option but fat can give permanence which for some justifies the drawbacks in comparison to the advantage fillers have.
