Sometimes when I turn over in bed after sleeping on one side for a while, the opposite breast which I was laying on will burn when turning over. I would say this was normal if it was the breast I was laying on, but it’s not, it’s the other breast. Anyone know what this might be? Silicone implants
Answer: 3 years post-op: Sometimes when I turn over in bed the opposite breast which I was laying on will burn. Thoughts or advice? Burning sensations are not uncommon and are usually related to irritation of nerves. This is generally a benign condition but to confirm this would require a visit to your surgeon for an examination.

Answer: Burning pain in breast when laying on side Your question and breast irritation is not uncommon. You have to remember that your implants are still surrounded by a thin layer of scar tissue and nerve fibers still are in contact or even grown into some of that layer which is the capsule of scar around your implant. when you lay in certain positions there may be a bit more pull or irritation of some of those nerves which can give a shooting or burning pain. It is especially noticeable when we are trying to sleep or nap for you aren't distracted by other things. A bit like hearing a faucet drip only when you try to sleep. The larger the implants the more likely someone may have this, but it can happen to anyone. While not super common, it's far from unheard of. Be sure to maintain your usual follow ups with you surgeon and maybe get an extra visit in to be sure your not getting a firmer capsule in the area that bothers you. Don't hesitate to take extra vitamin "E" every day for some people find that slows down any potential hardening on the capsule (weak science at best, but I've also seen it help some patients). Good luck.
