I had a large chin implant 3 months ago and am not satisfied with its appearance. I also recently learned it can lead to bone loss if the implant is too large. If I remove the implant soon, for example, 6 months after surgery, will my chin return to normal or will the shape be different? also would the skin sag if I returned by 6 months?

Answer: Chin implant removal or replacement? There is no doubt that any chin implant will, in time, cause some, minimal bone resorption on the contact surface with bone. That is something that is clinically insignificant and you should not worry about long term consequences in that regard. However, if you want large implant removed I would siggest to discuss possibility of implant replacement with smaller implat? It is worth of discussion with your surgeon. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Answer: Bone Loss After Chin Implant It is important to understand that 100% of chin implants cause slight bone recession in the anterior mandible. It's hard to give advice without an examination and/or photos, but my inclination would be to wait and see at 3 months, when there is still some degree of inflammation which precedes the final result. I would give it a minimum of 3-4 more months before making a decision, assuming that there is no gross asymmetry or aesthetic problem.
