Is it possible to have referred shoulder pain after an extensive tummy tuck with liposuction?

There are many causes for referred pain to right shoulder.You should go to your internist and have this checked out as it may be anything from fluid around the lungs, to gall bladder pains.

A patient  can experience many different types of intermittent pains follwing almost all  types of surgery, and this is true follinng an abdominoplasty. Pain referred to the right  shoulder, even following  drainage of a small fluid collection  does not make sense. There are other  cause of right shoulder pain and this is best  evaluated by your internist or GP, particularly if the pain persists.I wish you well !

Your symptoms are unusual;  I cannot remember a patient having “shooting pain to right shoulder” with dressing changes.  If this symptom or to continue, best to be evaluated by your primary care physician to rule out the variety of causes of the symptoms;  Best not to assume that it is related to the tummy tuck operation.
