How to reduce animation/flexing deformity (but still have unders)? Would tear drop, instead of round, reduce it?

Hi.  As you have pointed out if you have submuscular implants then there is a risk of animation deformity and the only way to totally prevent it is to go subglandular instead. A dual plane 3 approach may reduce it but it is only indicated in certain scenarios and comes with a risk of the implant popping into the subglandular plane so this is not the answer.  Animation can be reduced by a particular technique of muscle release, fat grafting may disguise it a little but not much.CheersDamien

Thanks for your question. Classically, a full submiscular implant placement is associated with animation. One of the advantage of the dual plane BAM is that it reduces the risk of animation. The extent of obeying breast tissue as well as the release extent of the muscle determines the ultimate risk of animation. Implant shape does not contribute to this. 

Thank you for your question. The only real variables in the animation deformity are the level at which the muscle is released from its rib origins. The more we would like the  implant to drop, the more muscle needs to be released. When the muscle is excessively released from the sternum, the animation deformity seems to be worse. The type of implant has nothing to do with it other than its size. Certainly more overlying breast tissue can hide this a little. Hope that's helpful.
