Thank you for your question. I would defer to your surgeon whether this can stopped or whether it should be encouraged. There may be a specific reason why they are using this in your case. In general, they are used to help guide the implant into its final position.
If you mean the elastic strap putting pressure on the upper pole of your breasts then it often causes discomfort as you swell. I tell my patients to loosen that strap if it is causing discomfort. It also causes skin irritation for some patients. In that case I recommend putting the strap over a soft tee shirt. I have my patients wear that strap for 1-2 weeks but many patients find it difficult to tolerate for more than a week.
A compression belt (or breast strap) after breast augmentation is usually used to help the implants settle into a better position. The belt can cause pressure, which may be uncomfortable. However, the discomfort should lessen over time.Sometimes the belt can be rough and irritating to the skin. Wearing a soft shirt under the belt can help. The belt should be firm but not so tight as to cause real pain. Generally the belt should be worn as much as possible. If you experience pain, not discomfort, with belt use, you should consult your surgeon.Good luck!

usually do not hurt but it can aggravate pains. Continued use would be determined on where you are in your recovery. Best to ask your surgeon for further instructions.
A compression belt should be snug and direct gentle pressure downward. If you are experiencing pain with the belt, it may be on too tight for normal post-operative swelling. I tell my patients to adjust the belt as necessary. Wearing the belt over a t-shirt may be helpful. Check with your plastic surgeon for specific recommendations regarding your compression belt. Best wishes.

You are very thin with small breasts. The keys are to fill out the upper and lower parts of the breast with the right implant and to place it in a way that looks relatively natural. The technique that best achieves this is a Dual plane technique, where the implant is below the muscle in the...

Thank you for your question. I would definitely ask your plastic surgeon prior to resuming any supplements. I typically wait until all the swelling and bruising is gone and clear before allowing patients to resume supplements.
Decades ago, surgeons would obtain blood tests, a urinalysis, an EKG and a chest x-ray prior to any surgery, even for young, healthy patients. With passage of time and additional research and experience, it became clear that such testing had no impact on the surgery or the outcomes unless the...
Thank you for your question and photograph. The tissues surrounding the area of surgery can swell, as your body holds on to extra water during times of injury or stress. This swelling normally resolves over the first few weeks after surgery and should not affect your outcome....
