Answer: Puffy nipples Prominent nipples can be trimmed in a relatively simple procedure done under local anesthesia. a 'puffy nipple' where the whole nipple and areola complex seem swollen and protruding can also be treated with a procedure under local anesthesia that involves a small incision around the edge of the areola and removal of some of the gland tissue from directly under the nipple/areola
