I hear that DHI use no scalpels. I see some people who have had transplants and their forehead is blood red after a week, so my question relates to which method would look partially self healed , minimally scarred/ less obviously transpanted after one week, not a huge graft session as i dont have a huge amount of donor hair, lets say 1000 to 1500 hairline / top of head grafts.
Answer: FUE is only a harvesting method. If you are concerned about donor area scarring when keeping your hair short FUE is only a harvesting method. If you are concerned about donor area scarring when keeping your hair short you should choose the FUE method. FUE requires shaving your head so it would be very obvious after surgery.

Answer: What technique is less detectable one week after surgery? riangute,With all modern hair transplantation techniques the receptive or transplanted area looks the same with very little chance of it being detectable. In the donor area, the FUT or strip procedure is not visible from the day of surgery, whereas with FUE in our practice employing a .7mm punch the wound heals usually within 3 days. So at one week after surgery both techniques should have little detectable evidence of the surgery. Sincerely,Bernardino A. Arocha, MD

Answer: Less scarring Hello. Your question relates to the difference between FUE AND FUT. DHI is a unfortunately a marketing term that commonly misleads consumers it is essentially FUE that 99.9% of surgeons perform. The level of scarring in FUE is dependent upon the punch size used as well as the number of follicles extracted as well as the skill of the surgeon. The recovery of FUE vs FUT is quicker and there is no linear scar. If you wish to keep your hair long around the back and sides FUT will provide you with more grafts and less obvious widespread scarring especially if your donor density is low. These issues can only be discussed with an in depth examination.

Answer: DHI , FUE or FUT There will be almost no scar or obvious marks nor at the donor area neither at transplantation site with FUE tech. But ıf you shave your hair with razor, you or others may only realize a tiny white dots on your skin when looked very closely..they are very tiny and invisible scars of punch insertions . Actually I have no complaint about those scars before… But you would have a long, 2-4 mm widht pretty visible scar on back of your head in FUT technique (which I never use that technique any more) , because doctor has to cut your skin to harvest a strip of skin as a source of grafts and suture this skin gap to close .DHI is just a marketing gimmick. When you look at the web site of ISHRS (international society of hair restoration surgery ) you will see just 2 tech for HT: FUT and FUE..So , DHI , percutaneus tecnique, golden punch tecnique, ıce graft FUE tecnique etc are all FUE and there is no different from each other or superior from each other. What makes difference on result of hair restoration is surgeon's credentials , experience level and accuracy of used FUE technique.

Answer: Strip vs FUE Both of these surgeries if done right and with very good post op washing will have no evident crusting or scarring by the 5th day. For FUE, the hair in the back of the head must be haved while for the strip, not so. See example below of FUE at 5 days
