38 yo female 5’5” 137 pounds. S/p 3 c -sections with back to pregnancies 13 months apart with most recent c section 8/2022. Very active, lift 4 days a week and currently have 8-10lbs to lose to get back down to ideal weight. I absolutely hate the pooch/ shelf. I know no matter how much I exercise and lose weight it will always be there. I don’t want to go through a full tummy tuck, is a mini tuck with lipo an option for my type of scar. currently waiting for appointment with one surgeon. Ty

Answer: Mini tummy tuck and liposuction The c-section scar can be corrected with a mini tummy tuck and liposuction. A full tummy tuck would be better but you should be able to get by with a mini tummy tuck and liposuction. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: #minitummy tuck removes lower tummy shelf Hi jlewis84, Removing the skin and soft tissue "shelf" and a little liposuction are a good option for the outer tissue layers but will not address the abdominal muscle wall laxity that arises after multiple pregnancies (and can exist in slender/non-overweight patients). Unfortunately still pics don't help entirely as the best way to assess for this laxity is an in-person examination (when you tighten and relax the rectus & oblique muscles)- your surgeon may recommend muscle tightening too. The new scar can be positioned slightly lower to remove the Csection scar altogether. Good luck!-Dr. Doolabh
