These two modalities have no role in the final outcome of liposuction. There a waste of money and time and might even be damaging if done too aggressively
My patients get best results with these devices post procedure. I suggest these with compression and start exercising 7-10 days after your procedure. Best, Dr. Emer.
In my opinion, and in our practice, we use lymphatic massage, with great success after liposuction, and believe it to be superior to Endermologie. I'm sure you will find physicians with the opposite opinion as well. Typically, it has been our experience that the lymphatic massage is very successful and can be delivered more cost effectively than Endermologie. Also, at the end of the day, most of these methods mainly speed up your results, not make for a real difference in your results, though I believe that the lymphatic massage reduces your risk of a seroma (Fluid Collection), which can cause an irregularity in your final result if not recognized and treated.
My personal belief is neither of those ancillary treatments will do much of anything to enhance the liposuction results. In my opinion, having the procedure done correctly is what makes a difference.Liposuction done incorrectly leads to results which no other modality can properly treat.Once the liposuction has been done correctly, it simply takes time, and results will follow up.I know other plastic surgeons differ on this topic, but this is simply my opinion and has been my experience.I also stress to my patients to not engage in any type of ancillary procedure or activity that causes pain after liposuction. This includes having a lymphatic massage if it's done too early or too aggressively.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
My impression is that massage does help to reduce swelling, just like in medical cases of lymphedema, but it is not mandatory. But it helps with the resolution of swelling and feels good. You can do your own massages, or even just roll the area with a clean new paint roller or clean rolling...
Hello. In my plastic surgery practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, we encourage all liposuction patients to have at least one lymphatic drainage massage. This of course will need to be supplemented with massage on your own of the treated areas on a daily basis. Best of luck, Dean...
Always best to run these types of questions by your plastic surgeon, who may or may not recommend the massage. Best wishes.
