Picked a mole off of my arm, now scared!

The other day I was messing with a mole on my arm that's been there for several years. It's small (less than 2mm) brown spot. I was messing with it and the whole thing picked right off, without any effort! Should I be concerned about this? It bled for about 2 seconds and scabbed over right away and now just looks like a pink spot on my skin. Thank you!

Moles can come back even after removal. I suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist with experience in mole removals and lasers.  Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. Due to the location of your mole, I recommend you consult with an eye surgeon, known as an ophthalmologist, to have your lesion evaluated and to discuss treatment/surgical options, and risks and benefits. Take care and good luck.

I suggest returning to your physician for an in person evaluation. Silicone based scar gels can be used to help prevent scarring. Lasers will help improve the outcome long term.  Best, Dr. Emer
