I am scheduled to have a Radiesse injection to my chin. I have some concerns. I am getting 1 or 2 syringes injected to help augment a recessed chin and asymmetry. Is the chin area prone to swelling? Does it feel foreign like an implant or natural like my skin? And FINAL question....will it move? Without even realizing it, at night I tend to sleep on my side and prop my hand under my chin. Will this cause it to move or disfigure? THANK YOU!
Answer: Radiesse for Chin augmentation Dear Hannah12,There will likely not be much swelling (you will probably like it) after the procedureIt feels very natural and it may feel firm at first, but will soften after a few weeksIt is a little moldable in the first 24-48 hours, and after that, it should not move at allBest,Nima Shemirani

Answer: Getting radiesse in chin and scared! Does it feel foreign like an implant, or natural like my skin? Will it move? Radiesse works nicely in the chin. Voluma is also a newer option that has the advantage of being reversible with hyaluronidase if necessary. Typically, one syringe of either filler is a good place to start. More can always be added later if you feel that you need additional projection. Ensure that you seek a very experienced injector as this is not a "garden variety" type of injection. A Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist injector is a good place to start. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Radiesse for chin Radiesse is an excellent choice for temporary (!) facial augmentation. It will feel and look natural. And if you like the result you can then decide to have a permanent implant placed which can be custom designed, if needed, for you.

Answer: Radiesse for chin Dear hannah, thank you for your question. Injectable fillers can be used to enhance facial volume, correct lines and depressions, and rejuvenate the face without surgery. Some common fillers used in our San Diego practice include restylane, juvederm, perlane, voluma, radiesse, and sculptra. Consult with an experienced facial plastic surgeon injector to review your options. Good Luck!

Answer: Radiesse in the Chin Hello Hannah12,Although I like Radiesse as a material, I would also consider using a hyaluronic acid (HA) product like Perlane or Voluma since it is reversible. Whatever material you choose, it should still feel like your natural skin over the top of the product if injected properly. This is not a super common area to inject but it should be done very deeply past all of the soft tissue and in front of your jawbone and not in the skin itself. It may be possible that you have some mobility after the injection but it should be minimal.Lastly, another reason to consider an HA is if you are considering surgery in the near future for chin augmentation. It can be a nice product to inject as a "try out" prior to chin surgery since it is removable with another injectable product called hyaluronidase.Good luck,Michael M. Kim, MD
