Is temporary slurred speech after Botox normal?

This occurance after Botox to the forehead would be very uncommon, and if it happens again it should be discussed thoroughly with your practioner. Especially if you've had this happen at any other times in your life, to make sure there isn't another underlying cause.Good luck,Dr. G

Temporary slurred speech is not normal after a Botox treatment to the forehead and I cannot imagine how Botox could have caused such an event.  Temporary slurred speech can be a sign of a TIA (transient ischemic attack), which is like a small stroke.  I would recommend seeing your primary care doctor to be evaluated.  

Goldendelicious15, sorry to hear this!I've never witnessed such an incident while injecting Botox, but I would encourage you to follow up with your injector as well as your primary care doctor as slurred speech can be indicative of a more serious issue.When injecting the depresser anguli oris muscles (the muscles the bring down the corners of the mouth), one possible side effect is affecting the muscles used to speak. It would be highly unusual to get slurred speech following a Botox injection to the forehead particularshortly after the injection. It wouls be best to talk to the injector to see if they noted anything unusual happening during the injection.

This is very uncommon and unlikely to result from treatment to your forehead. I would discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon. Best.

If only the forehead was injected you should not have experienced this. If injections were done on the cheek or even around the mouth there could be some of this. See your family doctor for an evaluation

Not normal at all! I have never seen such an event happen. though this could have been an anxiety reaction i would suggest you discuss it in detail with the injector and your primary physician. good luck

A treatment using Botox should not cause one to have slurred speech. Since you did not tell us your age, I have to assume that you are older than someone who is 50 years old. I would most definitely visit your family practitioner and be evaluated for a minor stroke also known as a TIA, transient ischemic attack. Good luck from New York City

Hi goldendelicious15, Slurred speech after having Botox is not as rare as previously thought. Serious complications are rare but symptoms like slurred speech should be reported by your doctor as an adverse reaction. Other symptoms that should be reported asap are difficulty of breathing or swallowing.You will probably be asked if you have any pre-existing condition or medication that can lead to slurred speech.
