My father got a similar nose but not exactly like mine and he told me that earlier in his life he consulted for a rhinoplasty and they told him it wasnt possible to make it smaller. I was wondering if my case is the same or something can be done to reduce the overall size of the nose, specially the tip part wich is quite bulbous and not fitting my face at all. My facial skin is quite oily but i dont know if my skin is thick. Overall i feel like the nose dosnt fit my face since its too big.
Answer: From these photos, it looks possible to me. See the morphs I made from your photographs. Click on the "Learn more" link, just below my response, or go here: FacialSurgery.com/RealSelf/RealSelf_dragobert5.html I made a couple of computer morphs of your nose, and animations of the morphs, to show the changes that are possible for your nose in truly expert hands.I see the outlines of your two tip cartilages in the frontal view, which indicates that the skin isn't so thick as to hide the cartilages and prevent a rhinoplasty from making meaningful changes. In the morphs, I narrowed the tip and bridge of your nose, and also, on the profile view, elevated the tip, which wouldn't be a bad change for you. When the tip cartilages are strong enough to make the tip wide, they are usually strong enough to hold the tip down, making the nose tip look a little droopy. You should understand that the changes I demonstrated in the morph require advanced techniques, techniques that most plastic surgeons cannot handle. Be sure to read the section in the "Learn more" link on how to stay out of trouble while searching for a rhinoplasty surgeon. You should only have surgery if you are able to make yourself very confident in your surgeon's skills. Read that page very carefully. Most plastic surgeons are quite poor at this operation, and I believe my advice will go a long way toward keeping you safe. I'd love to hear what you think of the morphs. Did they seem to address your main concerns? Your nose is also a good example of why computer imaging is mandatory in rhinoplasty. You need to know exactly what the surgeon is planning to accomplish -- what features he thinks he can change, and by how much he thinks he can change them. When you see his goals, you'll know whether he has an eye for a beautiful nose, and whether he shares your opinion of what constitutes a beautiful nose. You'll also know whether the changes he proposes are enough to be meaningful to you, and whether he understands your wishes enough to address all of your priorities. But remember, you're not hiring him for his skills with the computer. The doctor must then show you his before and after photos to prove that he can actually accomplish what he draws on the computer. In your case in particular, you need to find a surgeon who understands all of the issues I mentioned, and how they fit together, and who can actually accomplish them in surgery.

Answer: Oily skin big bulbous nose can something be done? The appearance of your nose improved can be improved with a nasal surgery (rhinoplasty) and probable septoplasty which are typically done at the same time. A natural appearing nose can be achieved when the procedures are performed by an artistic plastic surgeon with extensive experience in nasal surgery. Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on a limited two dimensional photo without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or the Canadian Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (CSAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. You may also benefit from a cephalic rotation of your tip to turn up your tip slightly. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty for big bulbous nose, can something be done? The thickness of the skin is best determined at the time of the in-person examination. When patients have a bulbous nasal tip, suture techniques, a conservative cartilage removal, and sometimes even cartilage grafting are required to make the refinements. The tip of the nose can also be lifted as well. It is important to release the depressor septi ligament which pulls the tip down when smiling. Osteotomies performed on the nasal bones can accomplish narrowing and straightening them as well. For more information and many before and after examples, please see the link and the video below

Answer: Bulbous tip Yes, you absolutely can have noticeable improvement. It does seem you are correct in understanding that your skin will limit the degree of refinement achievable, however your lower lateral cartilages can be modified in shape/position and - if necessary - support added in order to make the change.
