Pectoral muscle pain after explant. Implants removed 1 year ago. Advice?

Question

I got my breast implants removed 1 year ago (they were Allergan Inspira implants placed above the muscle). Ever since I got these I had pectoral muscle and chest pain. Really hoped these would disappear after getting them out but it still hurts a lot. It's muscle related pain (tissues are ok), my whole chest is on fire. Whenever my breasts move it hurts like hell. So basically everytime I walk, let alone running or doing any exercise..It's excruciating. What could be the problem? Please help. :(

Hi @dragon95, thank you for your question.  It is possible that the underlying cause of your symptoms may be related to the attachment of your pectoralis muscle to the chest wall. However, a thorough consultation and examination would be necessary to determine the cause of the problem and treat it. Reconstructive surgery may be an option to correct the aesthetic component of your problems. However, additional diagnostic testing may be necessary to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan. That said, it is important to consult with an experienced plastic surgeon to evaluate your individual situation and provide you with the best recommendations for your unique needs. I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are having.  I would begin by visiting with the surgeon who removed your implants to check for any obvious cause of your discomfort.  Further testing or referral to a specialist may be indicated to determine diagnosis and treatment.

I would suggest meeting with a pain specialist physician and discussing a nerve block with steroids to try and help settle down your pain. With breast moving, your pain may be more in breast tissue than muscle. Also, acupuncture might be helpful.
