Explanting 650cc implants - will my breasts look worse than before? (photo)

Question

I recently got breast implants. The size were extremely larger than what I wanted and have decided I prefer to have them removed instead of a revision. I'm hoping to explant at 6 months po. I had a lift with implants and want to know what to expect. Are my breast doomed? Will they look worse than before? Will I have inverted nipples? Will the scar be hideous? Picture is pre implants. 5'4 155lbs

Hello @camcam85, thank you for your question! My opinion is that a breast implant removal should be combined with immediate breast reconstruction to reposition the mammary tissue and improve projection of the upper pole and medial areas using the BRALAN Technique (Breast Reconstruction Anatomical Lift Augmentation) since the results will be adequate in terms of aesthetics and have a minimal scar in the shape of an L. If you are considering a breast explantation, consultation with a plastic surgeon who is experienced in this procedure is essential to ensure optimal results. Best wishes!

Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs of your current breasts.  It may be possible that a repeat lift can be done to salvage the situation at the same time of explant.

Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  Unfortunately nothing replaces an in-person examination but if you are interested in removing your implants I would do so sooner than later.  A revision of your breast lift may be required but you could wait and see if a revision is needed after implant removal alone.   Talk to your surgeon about your concerns.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You can get implant removal, wait to see the final results and later decide whether you'll need another surgery in order to correct them. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

If you are only doing an explant, then your breast shape with change significantly.  It may be worth discussing with your surgeon about waiting a bit longer then getting a lift revision at the same time.  I recommend you work with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon as a full consultation and evaluation would be necessary.

It's difficult to say how you will look once the implants are removed as you had a lift along with the implants.  You will lose the volume the implants provided and will have some of the benefit of the lift performed.  I encourage you to speak to your surgeon about options.  You may wish to have an additional lift or perhaps a lift with a smaller implant.  An often overlooked option is to simply have the implants removed and wait for them to fully heal and then see how you feel.

You might consider going down to a size that fits your frame and tissue and that is not so heavy. An internal lift can be done to help tighten the pocket. Remember, you were not happy with no implants, and may not be happy if just removed.
