Three and a half weeks after upper and lower eyelid surgery my upper lids are still deep purple with very visible thread veins. Do you think these will disappear? My surgeon does not seem very concerned.

Most oculoplastic surgeons have good working relationships with Retina specialists. I would advise that your eyelid surgeon contact one of the retina colleagues to determine that your condition is stable.
If so a laser Blepharoplasty should be safe.

Your degree of scleral show is not too severe and often this will resolve with regular upward massage of the lid several times daily for 3 to 5 minutes. As lid tone improves so will the lid position in most all cases. You do not have ectropion (lid margin everted) and do not need revision...
