Is it a problem that cartilage came out through cut in nostril? (photo)

A few small pieces of diced cartilage can come out without any significant change in the graft. The more important issue is to avoid infection through the open cut. Make sure not to touch the nose and clean the area with peroxide and Q tips till it completely heals. RegardsDr. J

Occasionally, the internal sutures inside the nose and come loose and an incision slightly open.  If small diced cartilage is in the area, it's possible that some can come out.  If only a small amount of cartilage comes out, it should not have a significant impact on your result.If the opening inside your nose continues to worsen or get larger, or more cartilage comes out, you should see your surgeon ASAP to have him take a look.  Ensuring an infection does not start and/or replacing a suture in that area may be important to avoid any complications.Best of luck!

Thanks for your question. It's not uncommon for tiny pieces of cartilage to come out in this situation, but given this picture, you should really try to see your surgeon sooner than later. You may need another stitch or two, but it wouldn't be a big deal and shouldn't compromise your result in any way. Good luck.
