Will Accutane help with scars and dark marks on my face?

I have some dark marks on my face that was left behind by acne and I'm wondering if it Will go away with Accutane

Accutane is a go-to medication for patients with recalcitrant cystic acne. It can reduce pore size and also reduce sebum production in your skin, making it less oily; and in turn, dryer. Accutane can be used to control acne, but patients receiving the medication should be carefully monitored. In terms of skincare, always wear an appropriate sunscreen and reduce direct sun exposure. In my patients, I recommend a good ceramide moisturizer such as Elevase whenever they are on Accutane. This will keep the skin hydrated and reduce the oiliness of the skin that is associated with oil-based moisturizers.

Hello and thank you for your question. Accutane is a medication used to treat acne, however, you may see some improvement with acne scars and discoloration indirectly. As for scar treatment, any of the modalities that injure the skin
with subsequent collagen formation such as fractionated laser, dermaroller,
resurfacing lasers, deep peels, etc., may help your condition.
 Fillers are a good option, specifically Bellafill®, a permanent filler.
Bellafil® is FDA approved in treating acne scars. The right modality for
you depends on your skin type, expectations, patience, downtime, and cost. I
highly recommend you consult with a board certified dermatologist or plastic
surgeon to have your skin evaluated and to discuss treatment options
that best suit your needs.
