Body chills 6 days after surgery. Is this normal?

It is 6 days post surgery.. I did a fully tummy tuck with lipo on the hips..back.. amd thighs as well as a breats lift filled with fat. Yesterday i started to experience goosebumps amd chills constantly running through my body and the whole day today is this normal?

Body chills 6 days after surgery indicate an infection. I would advise returning to your surgeon immediately.

Some possibilities for such symptoms 6 days after such a major operation could be: dehydration, anemia, infection, amongst other possibilities. We advise that you contact your surgeon as soon as possible.

One of the potential risks associated with any type of surgery is infection.  Depending on the type of infection,  there is a "classic" timeframe where they may occur.  Any well-trained/experienced plastic surgeon will be aware of this timeframe. For example, fevers or chills six days postop would be concerning as a sign of infection. This may be an infection involving the lungs (i.e. pneumonia) or the incision (surgical site).   Best to report your symptoms/concerns directly to your plastic surgeon. Best wishes.

I recommend speaking with your surgeon and requesting an evaluation.  Monitor for other signs of infections such as fever, and general malaise.  Your surgeon may prescribe antibiotics if necessary.

Contact your surgeon as soon as possible.  You should not be experiencing chills following surgery.  This could be a signal of an infection.
