I went for a consultation and was advised not to get any treatment because dealing with veins near the body trunk is tricky. Is this a generally accepted view? I would love to get rid of them.

Answer: Blue veins, reticular veins, ultrasound, sclerotherapy
Blue veins are also called reticular veins and they most commonly are treated by sclerotherapy. Larger blue veins can approach the size of varicose veins and, if this is the case, micropohlebectomies(2mm incisions) can be utilized. If you have a lot of blue veins a venous reflux ultrasound would help to see if these are coming from another source.

Answer: Large veins on the upper thigh
Enlarged veins on the lower and upper leg can be treated with sclerotherapy (injection with an agent that closes the veins). They may also be treated by phlebectomy (surgical removal) or by laser or RF ablation. Evaluation by ultrasound or venogram can determine if they are safe to treat, and in most cases, they are.
