A person's weight does not affect the size of their nose. Your nose will not change in shape or size if you lose or gain weight. A reduction in size can only be achieved by a rhinoplasty surgery. It would be best to wait until your skeletal growth is completed before deciding to have a rhinoplasty surgery though.Hope this helps,Ali Rıza Öreroğlu, MD FEBOPRASEuropean and Turkish Board Certified Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive SurgeonIstanbul, Turkey
In fact, the nose does not lose weight but if it can be changed by the growth of the cartigalo it is the shape. What I recommend is that you wait a few more years to know if you need a rhinoplasty but you are not yet in age for it.good luck!!
It is pretty unlikely that weight change will have any effect on the appearance of your nose. At your age, you're too young to consider nasal surgery. Wait a few years to see how your nose changes.
Weight loss will not decrease nose size. Only removing tissue will do this. This is based on 35 years of rhinoplasty.
Most noses look "fat" because of thick skin- as opposed to a large amount of fat. It would be virtually impossible to shrink a nose through dieting or weight loss. When you have stopped growing, you and your parents can consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon to see if rhinoplasty may be an option. Good Luck!
I agree with Dr Demars about weight loss having no affect on the nose though change in shape may occur as you get older.Dr Corbin
After doing this work for many years I've never seen a patient lose weight from their nose. Surgery will be necessary to reduce the nose so it is proportional with your surrounding facial features.
There is little if any nasal change with weight change. But noses do change with age. For girls, most of the changes are done by 15-16, for boys it is 5 more years.
Dear Tzee,If you will be doing Augmentation Rhinoplasty using implant, please allow at least 3 months before getting back to training. For Reduction Rhinoplasty, a shorter time of 6-8 weeks will be needed.
Dear BrooklynB: I know you have concerns about the surgery because I addressed some other issues in a previous post. With a specific request about the risk of death during rhinoplasty: it is very minimal, so minimal that it should be the least of your concerns really. There are several...
I don't think it makes a difference if you see an ENT surgeon or plastic surgeon for a septoplasty. It's more important to find a surgeon who is comfortable with rhinoplasty surgery and understands your goals. There are good and bad rhinoplasty surgeons in both fields.
