Hello! I had surgery two years ago for Lipo and a bbl. I have some unevenness and a lump under my bellybutton. I honestly haven't been too eager to fix it because you can only really see the contour irregularities under poor lighting so it hasnt bothered me too much. Is there a way i can fix this that doesn't require more surgery? Or something minimally invasive? Here are some pictures in different lighting. As you can tell, the lighting makes a huge difference visually.
Answer: Post-lipo contour irregularity Dear Generous526768, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Abdomen You can try Sculptra injections to help add volume to the areas where a little too much fat was removed. Otherwise, fat transfers probably would work well.

Answer: Contour irregularities If you are wanting nonsurgical options you can consider massage. I'm not sure it will correct the contours fully, but it may provide improvement. Surgery would give the most reliable result.

Answer: Correcting Liposuction results Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people believe and this definitely includes a substantial number of plastic surgeons. The number of plastic surgeons who can do liposuction consistently without any contour irregularities is actually quite small. For that reason patient should be highly selective when it comes to choosing plastic surgeons and thoroughly vet providers carefully before committing to having the operation. I recommend patients do that I have a multiple in person consultations. During each consultation ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures. Ask providers to show you examples of previous patients with similar body characteristics to your own. I asked him to show you examples of excellent outcomes, average outcomes and outcomes that didn’t turn out as well as they had hoped for. For reference and experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets up before and after pictures of commonly performed procedures like a domino liposuction. Look carefully at all of the pictures to make sure there are no skin contour irregularities in any of the results. Being shown a handful of preselected pictures which most likely represent the best results of the providers career is totally insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like or how many of these procedures the surgeon has actually performed. Being a board-certified plastic surgeon with a overall good reputation is insufficient to confirm someone has mastered liposuction. Mastering this procedure requires doing thousands of cases with a total commitment of mastering the Art. A substantial number of well trained and well-meaning plastic surgeons seriously lack skills and doing competent Liposuction. Unfortunately the procedure is often seen as simplistic as something that doesn’t require any significant learning. When surgeons take that attitude bad results follow consistently. Surgeons come up with a clever phrases to justify the results blaming patients for their own lack of skill. The only reasonable way to change that distribution is with Liposuction and your case revision Liposuction is the correct procedure. There are no non-surgical options that will do any good for your body contour. You’ll either need to redo the procedure or live with the results. Revision liposuction is many times more difficult than primary liposuction. It’s hard enough to take affect even fat distribution and make it thin and leave it even. Taking an uneven fat distribution and making it even is very difficult. Once someone has had poorly done liposuction debility to correct the outcome goes down substantially. Wow your results are far from great they are certainly not as bad as some of the ones I’ve seen. In your case I think a revision is clearly indicated and can definitely give you the results you would probably hope for in the first place. Unfortunately your surgeon has already proven that they don’t have the skills to do the procedure sufficiently well to give you quality results so that provider should not be doing your revision. Remember that revision work is more difficult than primary Liposuction so the chance of the procedure becoming worse from Revision work is very real. Consulting for revision work is primarily the same process as consulting for primary Liposuction with the exception that you should not expect providers to have nearly as many before and after pictures. Typically providers to do the best primary Liposuction are also the best at doing revision work. To find the right provider if you want to have another procedure you’ll need to schedule multiple in person consultations. Some providers may not be interested in doing revision work and that may eliminate some talented providers. There’s no correct number of consultations patients need to find an excellent provider. I suggest patient schedule a minimum of five consultations before scheduling surgery but consider having many more if they haven’t found one who clearly stands out as being the most talented and experienced. Do not waste your money on nonsurgical treatment options. None of them will correct an uneven fat distribution. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
