Uneven lips. What can I do to correct this? (Photo)

Hi @stephhpets. To help with your gummy smile, 1-2 units of Botox can be placed between your upper lip and nose to temporarily freeze the muscles that contract or elevate when you smile which allows you to smile without showing your gums. Having asymmetrical lips is normal and can be easily fixed. You can correct the asymmetry of your lips with a filler like Restylane Kysse.

I perform a lot of lip injections with fillers such as juvederm and it works great. Many times I need to put more in one side than the other to attempt to even out the vermillion border (The red line of the lip). This helps provide more symmetry at times.For patients looking for a more long lasting result, I recommend fat grafting. That is, using your own bodies fat to make your lips naturally look more shapely. The bonus is that the results last many many years.
In general, I avoid using permanent prosthesis because I find that the lips are such dynamic and sensitive structures, the end result is not natural.

I encourage you to visit with an expert injector for an evaluation of your lips. You may benefit from filler or a combination of filler and neuromodulators to improve the asymmetry that concerns you.

Hello, thanks for your question and photos. As you may know, the two sides of the human body are never identical or symmetrical. There is always a difference, as it is in your case. You may have a great option with a Lips Fillers treatment to get volume and repair the asymmetries that bother you. You could have a great result with the Russian lips technique to give anatomical volume enhancing the upper lip and cupid bows. Facial a symmetry is present on everyone and the degree of a symmetry is generally far more than most people realize. during embryological development each side of the face develops independently and eventually fused in the midline.
The mouth is a midline structure so have your mouth developed from one side and a half of it developed from the other side and eventually fused in the midline. failure to have a complete fusion of the midline results in various forms of clefts such as a cleft lip or cleft palette.
The overall shape including movement of the mouth is based on structures that go through the entire face all the way to your cheekbones. that’s where the muscles begin that are involved with moving your mouth and attach at the corner of your lips.
Rarely is a symmetry do to a difference in Voluma and Fillers are generally not a good option for treating asymmetry.
Hey symmetry is normal and the human brain is accustomed to seeing it as being normal. for that reason computer generated images of perfectly symmetrical faces look odd, unnatural and less attractive.
Unless asymmetry is severe to the point of being obvious to others it should not be treated.
Some people when they first notice their own facial a symmetry are under the belief that the face is supposed to be symmetrical and then others have symmetrical faces.

If you look at people around you you will see that everybody has facial a symmetry and many of them have far more asymmetry then you do but you’ve never thought of them as having something wrong with their faces.
I suggest you except facial asymmetry as being normal aesthetically desirable and appropriate which it is.
