I will try to attach a photo- I smile lines just lateral to my lips. I don’t know if I would call them nasolabial folds or marionette lines- they’re kind of in between. Would dermal fillers help in this area?
Answer: Smile lines Yes from your photos you appear to be a good candidate for fillers. They could soften the smile lines that concern you. The treatment is done in the office and the results can last up to a year. You can also consider adding Morpeus8. This treatment combines RF technology with microneedling to improve overall skin tone and texture. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Filler Hello and thank you for your question. In short - yes, you could consider injectable dermal filler to the marionette lines and inferior nasolabial fold regions as both areas do have definition on the photographs you have sent. An in person consultation with an experienced injector may be of benefit to you.

Answer: Demystifying the smile lines. Thank you for your question. Whilst it's easy to assume that dermal filler would lessen the appearance of the recognised and known nasolabial or marionette lines, it is first important to obtain a comprehensive clinical assessment from a medical practitioner trained in aesthetic medicine. The nasolabial lines are commonly referred to the area lateral and above the corners of the lips. The marionette lines usually refer to the indentation of skin area just below the corners of the lips or mouth. There may be multiple reasons why this may have occurred. The face has varies anatomical layers including the underlying bony structure, retaining ligaments, SMAS, subcutaneous tissues, and skin. Any of these structures or combination thereof may have a role with regards to the appearance as described. The assessment of this may be rather comprehensive. Yes, dermal filler may help to reduce the appearance of smile lines preferably with a low cross linkage properties. However, this may not necessarily be the only way to manage this area or let alone the best way to address smile lines. Is there an element of not being adequately hydrated? There's a myriad of reasons. Take time to obtain a proper assessment. Some patients are happy to leave the smile lines as they are and may decide against dermal filler. A comprehensive and balanced assessment for your smile lines is invaluable for your overall result not just on the surface but also within.

Answer: Dermal Fillers for Smile Lines Near the Mouth Thank you for your message and for sharing a photo, it’s very helpful in assessing your concerns. Based on what you've described and the visual provided, the lines you're referring to appear to be a combination of mild nasolabial folds and early marionette lines, located just lateral to the lips. These areas commonly respond well to dermal fillers, which can be used to restore volume and smooth the skin, leading to a more refreshed and youthful appearance. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are typically the first choice for these regions, offering soft, natural-looking results. Treatment in this area can also be customized based on the surrounding facial anatomy to ensure facial harmony and avoid heaviness. A thoughtful and conservative approach is key, and adjustments can always be made gradually to enhance comfort and ensure you’re happy with the result.
