Unfortunately as many have done, I had some PMMA injected in my buttock and hips. The sides have been inevitably removed from the to two different hip implant procedures (currently no hip implants). My ideas are to either do an ellips and cut out the sides, or perform liposuction. I'm looking to gain 15 to 20 pounds and have fat transfer as well... I'm completely aware of the weight fluctuation problem before BBL but I'm prepare to keep the diet, therefor, maintaining the newly transplanted fat.
Answer: Can my buttock be reconstructed by fat transfer or an ellipse? Thank you for your picture and questions. I think that this should serve as a good example to patients on the dangers of pursuing unproven treatments such as PMMA injection into the buttocks and I thank you for sharing your experience. Although it is hard to give you specific advice without a physical exam to really understand your anatomy and the problem, I believe I could give you some idea as to how I would approach a problem like this. The first step is to remove the offending agent. I would start with imaging such as a CT or MRI to characterize and localize the product and plan for removal. It is possible that it could be removed with liposuction but some of it may require open surgery to remove. In addition, some of the skin may need to be removed to optimize the contour. The next stage would be to re-shape the area and this would likely be achieved with fat transfer, which can take multiple stages. I would say that a staged approached is the safest and best and you are going to have to be understanding of the difficulty of correcting this problem. I think you are looking at at least a minimum of two procedures, but likely more to get results that you like.Best of luck to you and be safe!

Answer: Buttock Reconstruction You would benefit by a combined buttock reshaping approach. It is hard to tell from just one picture from the back if the sides can be successfully treated by liposuction or need elliptical excision. But either approach can be combined with fat injections to the buttocks as a single procedure.

Answer: Correcting PMMA I think a multi technique approach may be the most appropriate route of action. While removing the PMMA may be very difficult it may be possible to compensate with liposuction. As you mentioned fat transfer as an advent procedure may also be very helpful depending on what you're trying to achieve.Sometimes I planned and staged approach can give the final best results.Considering you're looking for a lifetime correction this may be a smart way to go.You need to find a plastic surgeon who it is meticulous, detail oriented and is willing to take I long-term approach working with you to get your final shape back.If possible it may be helpful to get an MRI of the area which could conceivably be covered by medical insurance to get an accurate assessment of where the PMMA is located.I suggest interviewing with multiple plastic surgeons. You will not find any particular surgeon who is an expert in exactly what you need but rather someone who is inherently talented has great experience with both liposuction and fat transfer and will take a meticulous approach. One thing you may want to consider is acting as an advocate to warn people about the potential devastating complications I'm having foreign substances injected for body enhancements.simply placing a few posts on real self can potentially help other people from having to go through what you're dealing with now.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
