I've never been pregnant, I've never lost a whole bunch of weight at once, my boobs have always been droopy and uneven. What could cause that? And would I be a good candidate for a breast lift and breast implants?

Breasts come in a wide range of shapes, sizes and positions, and you need not have experienced pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight loss to have drooping breasts. In your case, your genetic makeup likely caused your breasts to be the way they are. You would certainly be a candidate for a combined breast lift with augmentation, which could improve both the shape and position of your breasts, helping you to enjoy newfound confidence in your appearance. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon for the best results.

From your photo, it appears that you would benefit from a breast lift.  A lift would reposition your nipples and reshape your breasts, giving them a more youthful appearance.  Implants will enhance volume.The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.

Hello and thank you for your question.  The
best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  With that
being said, based on your photographs, the best shape and contour could be
achieved with an implant and a breast lift. A lift with an implant can
result in a very nice shape if good technique is used.  The
size of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your
chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality.  This decision
should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from
both you and your surgeon.   Make sure you specifically
look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this
surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The
most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I
recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon
who can evaluate you in person.

Thank you for your pictures and questions. What you have is a completely normal variant of anatomy. Some people are prone to developing in a way that predisposed them to naturally ptotic breasts. If you are unhappy with your breasts, then you should consider seeing a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to discuss the possibility of a lift +/- implants (depending on your goals in terms of overall size). Sometimes, cosmetic concerns like sagging breasts can be chalked up to the hand you were dealt by your gene pool. Things like pregnancy, breastfeeding and significant weight loss can absolutely affect breast size and position, but if you’ve always been unhappy with the position and slight unevenness of your breasts, genetics are most likely the culprit.

The good news is that a breast lift with implants should be able to give you the even, lifted results you’re looking for. Based on your photos, it seems like you could be an excellent candidate for a breast lift with implants, although it’s still a good idea to schedule an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to get an individualized assessment.

The size and shape of your breast are largely determined by heredity.  Certainly weight loss and pregnancy can be other factors which affect their shape and size. Judging by a review of your photos you appear to be a candidate for a breast lift procedure.  Most women who have this operation are very happy with the improvement to their shape and proportion. Thank you for your question. What you have is normal breast anatomy.  It is very common to have different shape or size between each breast.   Some women can have a difference of a couple of cup sizes. Based on your pictures you would be a great candidate for a lift and implants.   Best of luck.

Thank you for your question and photos.  As you pointed out, pregnancy and weight loss are common causes of breast ptosis (sagging).  However, some women are just born with low sitting breasts with sagging.  There may be a genetic component or some changes during development that can result in abnormal breast shapes.  Breasts vary in size in shape widely between patients and within each patient.  On your photos, the breast on the left is larger and hangs lower.  You could undergo a breast lift to reshape, and reposition your breasts higher on your chest.  If you desire upper pole fullness, then I would recommend an implant at the same time.  Best to get a few opinions from board certified plastic surgeons.  Good luck.

You will find that there is no specific reason why some women will have "naturally saggy" breasts.  As you can imagine, breasts will develop in all kinds of shapes/positions and asymmetry is not unusual either. Based on your photographs, breast augmentation/mastopexy surgery may be helpful if you wish to increase breast size or change breast shape/position. This operation is best done once you have achieved your long-term stable weight, if you are not there already. It will also be important that you learn about the potential risks/complications as well as pros/cons associated with any  procedure you consider.Generally speaking, patients undergoing the breast augmentation/lifting combination operation should understand that it is significantly more complex than breast augmentation surgery only and that it is associated with will a significantly higher risk of complications and need for additional surgery.  Again, it will be important that you educate yourself regarding the pros/cons/risks/complications associated with breast augmentation/lifting surgery.

Remember, that during breast lifting surgery, some skin is removed, thereby limiting the "space" available for breast implants. On the one hand, breast augmentation surgery is expanding the breast skin “envelope” while breast lifting is (by definition) tightening up the breast skin envelope. These 2 forces are counteracting each other. Therefore, it becomes important to remove the appropriate amount of breast skin and to use the appropriate size/profile of breast implants to balance these 2 forces appropriately and to allow for achievement of the patient's goals while minimizing risks of complications.

Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation/lifting surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is:

1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. ***Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work.

2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals.

In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or "C or D cup" etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful.

Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice.

3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers.
