Does your face swell after the first laser treatment for rosacea? (Photos)

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

I agree with Dr Lim , every patient is different and there are a number of lasers for vascular problems. I use a KTP laser ( excel V) which may cause swelling for a few days just as the pulse dye however your skin looks fair and may not swell that much. Ice applied immediately after can reduce the swelling as well. It is a bit of a conundrum because the power required to treat the rosacea often causes swelling and lowering the settings reduces the quality of the outcome so if your rosacea is bothering you settle for a few days of swelling.

Really depends - on individual factors, severity of rosacea, and settings of the laser. This can all be controlled by your dermatologist. Swelling is quite common following V BEAM or any other vascular laser, and can last up to 4 days. Your doc will warn you before hand if a swelling setting was used. All the best, Dr Davin Lim
