Can liquid nitrogen reduce thickness of nose? Thicker because of rosacea? I've recently discovered, at 66, that my nose is getting slightly, but noticeably thicker, due to what my dermatologist says is rosacea. Today, I had a keratosis frozen on my arm. I understand it removes a layer of skin, which cause regeneration of skin below. Could this method be used on two small spots on my nose?

Hello Lyn.  It sounds like you are in the early stages of the development of Rhinophyma.  This condition is best treated with laser resurfacing and we use the Sciton Porfractional for this purpose.  Best of luck.

No, I don't recommend this. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. For rosacea, I like a combination using lasers (ProYellow, Pulsed Dye/Vbeam, Excel V, Clear + Brilliant), peels and botox to the cheeks. This makes dramatic changes in color and symptoms. Thanks for the question.  Liquid nitrogen would leave burn marks on your face that could take a while to heal.  As we age, there are changes in the collagen of both the skin and the small capillaries, which may cause them to weaken and become more visible.  Depending your skin type, we would probably recommend a series of IPL PhotoFacials to lessen their appearance.  Best of luck.

Please refer to my YOUTUBE video on how to treat rhinophyma- it covers this topic in a lot more detail than I can type in 10 minutes. Liquid nitrogen is not a good idea. CO2 laser, surgical techniques and loop diathermy can all be used to treat rhinophyma. If one has only an erbium lasers, sure one can use that, just got to use the coag function with a diathermy to stop the bleeding. Video tells all. Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
