Would coolsculpting be a better option than lipodissolve to get rid of a double chin? (photos)

You may want to start with two applicators in a criss cross application for your first treatment, then you can evaluate after 3-4 months and determine if you need more. We offer the CoolMini as a non-surgical alternative to liposuction for the right candidate.  For optimal results, 2 treatments are generally required. The treatments are separated by 4-6 weeks. Treatments are planned using templates of the CoolMini applicator. For fat localized to the sub mental chin, a single applicator per session may be required.  If there is significant fat more laterally in the neck, 2 or 3 overlapping applicators may be required to produce the optimal result.  We also offer Kybella and often use the two to develop customized a non-invasive alternative to surgical options.I would visit with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area who offers all these options to discuss what is best for you.

I find that VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF are best for contouring the chin in those who are candidates but Coolsculpting can be used as an alternative with or without thermage/ultherapy/exilis or Kybella. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.

Coolsculpting Mini would work for you. One treatment would remove around 35 percent of fat. You would require number of treatments. The end results become visible 8 weeks after last treatment. Every treatment needs to be spaced out 4 to 6 weeks. You may want to look into Kybella since it yields results faster than Coolsculpting and it is quite successful in removing submental fat.

Thank you for the question.  Coolsculpting is a great option for the double chin area.  We have seen great results at my practice.  Schedule with a Certified CS Technician and they can better assess you on an individual basis and customize a plan for you. 

Coolsculpting now has a really effective applicator called the CoolMini.  This applicator was specifically designed for use in the submental, double chin area. The treatment takes 45 minutes. Generally, 2-3 treatments are needed to achieve optimal results. Based on your photos, 2 treatments would probably be sufficient. We offer free consultations  where our registered nurses can give an assessment of the area to be treated, and determine is you are truly a good candidate.  Coolsculpting presents results within 2-3 months.  There is some slight swelling post procedure, but not much actual discomfort. Occasionally, there may be some bruising.  
Kybella, (deoxycholic acid) is a product from Allergan that is administered with multiple injections under the chin and then dissolves the fat away.  This usually takes several treatments to achieve best results.  Once injected in the submental area, patients tend to describe a strong burning sensation. This burning subsides before long, but then the area will swell quite a lot.  Most patients feel they need to stay out of public view for up to a couple of weeks post treatment with Kybella.  
The main reason someone would choose Kybella over Coolsculpting is that they are simply not a candidate for the latter.  Various clients come into our practices who have some unwanted chin fat, but not enough to qualify as a candidate for Coolsculpting.  Luckily, Kybella is an option.

Thanks for your question about treatment of your double-chin/neck.I think you are an excellent candidate for neck contouring and multiple procedures could give you great benefit.  In my practice I often perform kybella and coolsculpting as well as surgical procedures like neck liposuction and skin tightening.  You appear young and with good skin tone an elasticity.  In young patients I have found that Kybella which will dissolve your fat works very well.  It is easy to tolerate and is performed in office in 15 minutes or less.  I recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart for best results.Visit with a board certified plastic surgeon to review your options and select what seems like the best match for you.Best Wishes
