Is that possible for it to only be swollen on one side of the bridge of my nose after a rhinoplasty?

It has been 4 weeks since my Rhinoplasty and the right side of my nose is still crooked. The doctor said this may be swelling and he can't tell until it's been at least 6 months. Is there anything i can do to reduce inflammation faster on that side? Arnica, ice, etc?

Thank you for your question.  Yes, it is certainly possible to be swollen more on one side than the other for many reasons.  Unfortunately, this can lead to post surgery anxiety and consternation.  Inflammation sometimes feels soft and other times feels rock hard, so making a realistic assessment of all but gross asymmetries difficult until a good majority of the swelling has abated.  While it is certainly possible that the crooked nose will persist after the swelling goes down, give it more time and stay in contact with your surgeon about your concerns.  All the best!

Swelling can definitely be asymmetrical for a some months after rhinoplasty. It can be helpful to stand in front of the mirror and place some gentle pressure on the sides of the nose a few times a day and massage the areas. This can encourage slight asymmetries to smoothen out. At 4 weeks ice is not usually helpful.

Thank you very much for enquire.It's too early to make value judgments with only 1 month after a rhinoplasty.Swelling after a rhinoplasty depends of the surgery complexity.In this regard, the nasal swelling Post-op It can last from two weeks to two months.To reduce this swelling, I recommend you perform delicates daily lymphatic drainage massage therapy over the face (around the nose) avoid sun exposure, and take pain/inflamation pills, as your surgeron precribe you.Kind regards, Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-

At 4 weeks after a rhinolasty procedure there is still a lot of inflammation it is normal to have more inflammation on one side for many reasons. You should try avoiding the sun and and you can ask you Dr. to prescribe something for you to minimize the inflammation.Good Luck Dr. Michael J. Rodriguez
