I'm not sure I know what you mean by having your teeth fixed. If you're talking about orthognathic surgery I would suggest that that the done first and the rhinoplasty secondarily. If this is simply cosmetic dentistry than the order of treatment is not important.
Which procedure to do first depends upon the type of dental surgery you are having. I'm assuming in your case that "cosmetic" means veneers or crowns. If that is the case, it doesn't matter which you do first. However, any dental procedure that causes changes in your upper or lower lip (e.g. orthognathic surgery) could affect the lip/nose balance, and in that case, it is important to have the dental procedure first. I would do them a month apart regardless of which way you decide to go.
Dear robbylove,I recommend having the dental surgery donefirst for a couple of reasons. First, when you have dental surgery there is goingto be a showering of bacteria through your blood stream during the instrumentation. You do not want to have a fresh rhinoplasty wound that may be susceptible to pickingup those bacteria and cause an infection. Second, if during your dental surgeryyou are not breathing well and they want to put a mask on you to help with yourbreathing you do not want pressure on the fresh rhinoplasty incision.I hope this has been helpful.Robert D. Hello Robbylove,I would agree with the other responder that it depends on what you mean by having your teeth done. If you are getting dentures, having orthognathic surgery, or getting veneers then that should be done first. The reason is that these will all change the appearance of the upper lip. If you are simply having caps, fillings, braces, etc., then you can proceed with the rhinoplasty first. I'd recommend you consult with a facial plastic surgeon to discuss your goals of surgery. This way you can determine what the appropriate order is for you.I hope this helps and good luck.
Which one bothers you more? Pretty simple. I'm guessing you want braces or veneers or something cosmetic. So you may want to start that process first. I may make subtle refinements for the rhinoplasty based on the outcome of whatever it is you're wanting with your teeth. Also as a PS, I work closely with several OMFS guys in the area should you need a referral. It's also easy to decide this after an in-office consult. We are here to help you and to help you prioritize
