When can I stop worrying about my nose being bumped?

The nasal bones after rhinoplasty are fully healed after six weeks. The cartilage part of the nose is pretty resilient, so after six weeks, some mild fooling around is fine. You can still break your nose like any other person, but you don't have to be scared of things after the six weeks.

Thankfully, we have not had any of our patients have any long-term effects after mild nasal trauma following rhinoplasty surgery. I would be extra cautious for the first two weeks post-operative, and then forget about it. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Thank you for your thoughtful questions. It is important to never want to hit your nose again after rhinoplasty. if you play contact sports do not get surgery until done playing those sports. The nose is very fragile and your nose will never be as strong after surgery.

Slight bumps to the nose in the first few months after a rhinoplasty procedure should not be any problem whatsoever. A significant hit to the nose can be problematic, and that would be very painful, and you would also notice an obvious change in the nasal structure.

I suggest you follow up with your provider regarding postoperative instructions.
Each provider will have their own view on this.
Healing gradually strengthens and by six weeks, things are usually pretty stable.
It is highly unusual for someone to damage surgical outcomes by normal daily activities.
Most people are more conservative than they need to be though people should definitely be careful, especially during the first few weeks.
The only times I’ve had to redo surgery because of physical activity is after suturing infants or young children who had facial lacerations.
