I recently underwent a breast augmentation a few months ago, and I am soooo happy with the results, the only bad thing is i now have stretch marks across both breasts:(. How can I treat these? Would retin a be appropriate? Is there an effective laser treatment? Any help would be wonderful!
Answer: How to treat stretch marks after Breast augmentation? I agree with my plastic surgery colleagues. I don't think there is really any treatment. I have found over the years that if patients develop red or brown striae (stretch marks) on the breast after breast augmentation that they usually will fade in time and become less noticeable. I tell my patients to use Elta medical grade sunscreen and we also recommend the SkinCeuticals body tightening cream. If after a year the stretch marks didn't fade it may be reasonable to consider something like pulse dye laser as we sometimes do for scars but I don't have any experience with that. The good news is that if you give it time, the likelihood is that they will fade and bother you less. I hope that helps!

Answer: Stretch marks are difficult to treat Hello! Thanks for your question.Unfortunately, to my knowledge there is no reliable way to improve stretch marks outside of excising the skin that contains them, which in the case of breasts is usually not an option. There are numerous creams, medicines, therapies that claim to make stretch marks better, but none of them are really any good to my knowledge.Perhaps another surgeon knows of some new treatment that can reliably improve upon them. I've heard of some people using lasers to make stretch marks better, but I've yet to see any consistent results from anything.Hope this helps.
