Point of incision scars after cellfina - what do they look like?

Treatment of cellulite with the Cellfina System requires using a needle-sized microscalpel device to release tethering bands underneath the skin. After treatment with Cellfina, patients can experience bruising at the puncture sites. This bruising is evidenced by tiny red or brownish spots. Any hyperpigmentation of the puncture sites will fade with time, and there should be minimal scarring once they are healed. Healing time for patients does vary as every person heals differently. The scars from Cellfina are very small. They heal with a scab at first. After several weeks the scar is barely noticeable. The puncture site is about the size of a IV needle site or a puncture site when you give blood or have blood drawn. There is a bruise and this fades in a few weeks. Scar creams will help to lighten the puncture sites. 

Healing after CellfinaThere is no cutting and no incisions. To perform this controlled, precise, and safe procedure, a vacuum hand piece is placed over the dimpled tissue through which the surgeon will deliver a local anesthetic. Then a small, needle-like microblade is inserted to release the fibrous bands, the cause of cellulite.

Results can be seen in as little as three days post-op. Most patients report some soreness, tenderness, and bruising, which should resolve within a week. 90% of patients reported no bruising after one month. To ensure the best results, a compressive garment should be worn for 2 weeks post-treatment.

The access sites to perform Cellfina are equivalent to a needle stick. They typically heal very well and are not noticeable when healing is complete. Obtain a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for an evaluation and to discuss further.

Cellfina uses a microblade to release the fibrous bands, so the incisions aren't noticeable following the procedure. These are much smaller than a typical liposuction incision for example. Hope this helps and good luck!

My patients LOVE cellfina and have not at all complained about incision scars.  You can get small points of hyperpigmentation that can resolve with time and skin lightening but they are very un noticeable.  Please see an expert.  I find combining cellfina with a few non invasive treatments after give MUCH more improvement than cellfina alone.  Best, Dr. Emer.
