Treatment of cellulite with the Cellfina System requires using a needle-sized microscalpel device to release tethering bands underneath the skin. After treatment with Cellfina, patients can experience bruising at the puncture sites. This bruising is evidenced by tiny red or brownish spots. Any hyperpigmentation of the puncture sites will fade with time, and there should be minimal scarring once they are healed. Healing time for patients does vary as every person heals differently. Consult a board-certified plastic surgeon regarding how Cellfina can help you to achieve your goals. Good luck in your research!
Healing after CellfinaThere is no cutting and no incisions. To perform this controlled, precise, and safe procedure, a vacuum hand piece is placed over the dimpled tissue through which the surgeon will deliver a local anesthetic. Then a small, needle-like microblade is inserted to release the fibrous bands, the cause of cellulite.
Results can be seen in as little as three days post-op. Most patients report some soreness, tenderness, and bruising, which should resolve within a week. 90% of patients reported no bruising after one month. To ensure the best results, a compressive garment should be worn for 2 weeks post-treatment.
Cellfina is a minimally invasive procedure, and does not have the recovery time that other procedures may require. The "incisions" are actually just entry points for the needle to insert the skin. There are no true incisions or suture involved in the Cellfina treatment. The needle insertion points should close on their own and as long as no complications occur, they should not leave any scarring.
Incision marks after Cellfina
Thank you for your question. The incision marks for Cellfina are very small like a needle, and typically heal quickly without requiring stitches or tape. You should not be able to see them after about 4-6 weeks.

Each access point for anesthesia placement becomes invisible. Each place meant of the micro blade should become far less visible by 6 weeks but in some patients may be brighter.
Thank you for your question. The small blade that is used to cut the bands makes a small puncture in the skin that is like a needle for drawing blood, it doesn't make a cut, but a small puncture. The punctures heal quickly and do not require a stitch.
The access sites to perform Cellfina are equivalent to a needle stick. They typically heal very well and are not noticeable when healing is complete. Obtain a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for an evaluation and to discuss further.
Cellfina is done through small punctures that heal well
One of the best things about #Cellfina (despite the fact that more than 90% of patients of satisfied after 3 years) is that there are really no incisions, more like punctures. The size of the puncture is not that different than from what you see when donating blood. These heal quickly leaving pink marks in some fair skinned people and dark spots in some dark skinned people. These fade over weeks and months and can be improved if desired with minor laser procedures (we don't charge for these). Over all this is a huge improvement over traditional surgical interventions for #cellulite, in results, healing and overall satisfaction of the patient.
Point of incision scars after cellfina - what do they look like?
Cellfina uses a microblade to release the fibrous bands, so the incisions aren't noticeable following the procedure. These are much smaller than a typical liposuction incision for example. Hope this helps and good luck!
Cellfina candidate or not. Scars? Incisions?
My patients LOVE cellfina and have not at all complained about incision scars. You can get small points of hyperpigmentation that can resolve with time and skin lightening but they are very un noticeable. Please see an expert. I find combining cellfina with a few non invasive treatments after give MUCH more improvement than cellfina alone. Best, Dr. Emer.
