I am a little over 7 weeks post op from a mastectomy and reconstruction. It feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest still a lot. My surgeon gave me Valium for muscle spasms but they seem to ease the tension on my chest. The plast surgeon thinks I should be off all meds by now. Im starting physical therapy to help which I'm not exactly sure why I need it but that I think I'm just healing at a slower rate than she hoped for. I wanted to know when the tension in my chest should clear up?

Answer: Feels like an elephant is sitting on my chest- breast reconstruction. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your inquiry.The
best thing you can do in this situation is just to wait until things settle
down and then you can reassess. You can
always the just the size by going smaller if you feel you are too large, but at
this point it is too soon for you to be able to judge the size.I hope...
There is a syndrome called red breast syndrome. Infection is also a risk. The best thing you can do is see the doctor. Do not do any treatments outside of those directed by your doctor.
Hello! Thank you for your question. The photo appears ominous for mastectomy flap necrosis. I would follow-up closely with your surgeon as the need for surgical intervention may be needed with necrotic tissue. Best wishes.
