I had a BA on 12/27, so currently 13days post op. I just got hired as an EMT. When am I able to do CPR/ lifting the gurney etc? I’m going over training at the moment and haven’t done anything like that yet. I just don’t want to ruin anything for my healing.
Answer: Breast aug Thank you for your question and congratulations on your surgery and new job! I typically recommend my patients to have no heavy lifting or working out for 4 weeks. I don't necessarily recommend taking 4 weeks off from work but my recommendation would be to see if you can go on light duty. I would also suggest speaking to your surgeon to see what their post surgical protocol is and follow their instructions. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Just got an EMT job after breast augmentation, when can I perform the duties needed? Most plastic surgeons will recommend 4 to 6 weeks before resuming strenuous activity with a lifting limit of 10 to 15 pounds. Your best advice will come from the PS who performed your breast augmentation as he/she knows the extent of the surgery and how you are healing. And his/her post-operative protocol may vary from mine.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear emmi87,the majority of breast augmentation patients need one week of downtime. Depending on the work environment (heavy lifting, etc) more time off may be necessary. Patients are encouraged to walk immediately after surgery to avoid blood clots in the legs. I suggest that you follow your plastic surgeon’s post-operative instructions, especially on the level of activity that you can do and your scheduled follow up checkups, for faster and recovery.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
