After FUE, how soon can I use selenium sulfide (selsun) shampoo?

I use this shampoo daily for seborrheic dermatitis since I was a child and it works brilliantly. I am considering FUE. Shampoo daily, I have no issues. If I don't use this shampoo for a couple of days my mid to lower back neck scalp (around donor area) will get irritated. Waiting more than a couple of days is a concern. Waiting more than a week may be a deal breaker! Rest of head is fine. Just donor area is where I need to use product. And, is condition likely to transfer to recipient area?

It is best to ask your surgeon about post operative care as each doctor has their unique regimen. In general you should wait until the scalp has healed before starting any medicated shampoos.

I generally tell patients to wait 2 to 3 weeks before starting medicated shampoo.  However, each doctor will have his or her own timeline.  Dermatitis may become aggravated after the FUE but is controllable with proper care.

For patients like you, I may prescribe Derma smoothe oil and F/S Shampoo for a few days prior to the transplant to clear up any inflammation. I would recommend waiting to use the selenium sulfide shampoo until after the scabs have fallen off or around day 5. Please keep in mind that this would be my treatment plan, however, it is important to follow the instructions of your surgeon.

You may start to  your normal life and do everything, including every kind of activity after 2 weeks .. Also you may wash your head  just like before operation how often and which shampoo you use after 2-3 weeks .

You can use your anti-dandruff shampoo once the crusts are off of the recipient area. Prior to that use the shampoo recommended by your doctor
