Has my lip filler migrated? (Photo)

Question

I had a half syringe of juvederm lip filler placed in my lips in March 2021. I want to get more but want to know if what I have as migrated and if I’ll need to get it dissolved first?

Hi there, thank you for your question and photograph. It is hard to see in your photograph if your filler has migrated, however, filler typically lasts about 12 months. Since it's beyond 12 months now, most if not all of the product has more than likely been metabolized and needs to be refilled. I recommend an in person assessment with your local expert injector to determine if this is the case. Hope this helps!

I don’t believe fillers migrate. I’ve been using fillers since the 1990s and I’ve never seen a case of filler migration.

I think the concept is an excuse to cover up bad work.

Based on the timing you describe it’s unlikely there is any Juvéderm left.

Attempting to dissolve fillers at this point will probably have no impact because there’s probably no fillers left to dissolve.

I recommend you follow up with your provider.
