Typically our patients can go back to work within 1 week and back to the gym approximately 10-14 days after surgery, also we strongly recommend no contact sports such as soccer or basketball for approximately 6 weeks following surgery to avoid displacement of the implant. Be sure to discuss the specific recommendations with her surgeon, and best of luck to you.
Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years. When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin". Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face. Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck. Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut segments of bone). I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. We allow chin implant patients to engage in strenuous activity, 1 month post op. Depending on how the chin implant is placed, I prefer using a small curved incision under the chin that requires far less tissue dissection than implant placement through the mouth, the recovery may be several months. I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, silastic facial implants (cheek implants, chin implants and lip implants), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years Buccal lipectomy is an outdated procedure that will not affect the cheek bone shape directly. Instead consider proper shaping of the cheeks using precise placement of a dermal filler or the proper size/shape silastic cheek implants (permanent enhancement). An "expert facial shaping surgeon" can show you the proper aesthetic silastic implants to accomplish your goals. Following my beauty principles, women look the most feminine, youthful and attractive with heart shaped faces. Heart shaped faces have cheeks that are full and round in the front. When the cheeks are flat or concave in the front (elongates the face), cheek augmentation with a dermal filler or using silastic cheek implants can create full, round cheeks that will feminize the entire face. Conversely, men look chiseled and handsome when angularity exists, or is created, in the cheeks, chin and mandibular angles. Liposuction can be used to reduce excess fat to further shape the cheeks and face. Hope this helps.
If you do not have any hi res pictures from the side of your chin before the filler was placed there, I recommend to wait until the filler is completely absorbed or dissolvfed with hyaluronidase. Even if an experienced facial plastic surgeon may asses the right chin implant for you, this will be...
Hi 4dlynx,True rejection of standard medical grade silicone implant is quite uncommon but possible. It will however be best to consider other possible causes of the problem such as implant placement.
