Swelling after a fractional laser treatment is very normal. Most inflammation goes down with in 24/72 hours. You can use cool compresses and/or take an ibuprofen to reduce the inflammation. If the swelling keeps getting worse after a couple of days I would call your provider and let them know.
Swelling is normal after a fractional resurfacing laser treatment. It is often worse first thing in the morning because you've been laying flat all night. I recommend getting up and walking as much as you can. In addition, cool soaks of water combined with a small amount of white vinegar (we tell our patients to use 2 Tbsp vinegar per cup of water) help to reduce swelling and inflammation. If your swelling does not resolve within a few hours of waking, follow up with the physician who performed the treatment. Sometimes, a few days of steroid treatments (Prednisone) are needed for extreme cases.
See you Specialist for a short course of prednisone. This will reduce swelling. In most cases swelling will decrease with in the next 2 days, other causes such as irritant or allergic contact dermatitis needs to be excluded.
