Sensitivity needing painkillers 3 weeks after extensive veneers and crowns fitted. Is this normal and for how long?

Hello there,While it is normal to have some sensitivity for a few weeks after having that many veneers placed, it is still a good idea to return to your dentist to have him.her see if any adjustments are needed.  Sometimes, it is something as simple as a bite adjustment that simply alleviates pain for patients.  Make sure that you call the office and request a simple check to see why you are in so much pain; you can even ask the office if they could check to see if you need a bite adjustment.     Good luck and I hope this info helps you. Even though as cosmetic dentists we take every precaution to do a minimalistic tooth preparation during veneers or crowns, specially on vital teeth, sensitivity can occur. It may last for a few days or weeks. During this period we would prescribe our patients a desensitising toothpaste and pain killers if needed.Very rarely, you may need endodontic treatment to alleviate your pain. I would advise you to visit your dentist as he or she would be the best judge for the same.

after such an extensive full mouth rehabilitation, it is certainly quite normal to have generalized sensitivity,as you described.  Normally over the next several weeks, it should subside. If it does not a visit to your dentist is advisable
