While I wish I could advise you avoid the sun altogether, it's not practical. Give yourself at least two weeks of no sun exposure and make sure you have good, if not perfect, habits following. Apply and reapply sunscreen, wear a hat, and don't run at high noon. BestAnil Shah MD
It's recommended to avoid sun exposure 2 weeks pre and post your procedure. A total sunblock containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide should be applied daily if you are in the sun. If further treatments are needed, a commitment to stay out of the sun is necessary. Sun exposure may cause certain complications such as severe blistering and permanent skin discoloration
Hello and thank you for your question. I am glad to read that you always wear good sunblock. After an IPL treatment, your skin is more vulnerable to the effects of the sun. We encourage our patients to be extra diligent with sun protection for four weeks following their treatment. Also, always look for a sunscreen that contains a physical block (zinc oxide and or titanium dioxide), as these provide superior skin protection.
Hello! After IPL treatment, we recommend to our clients to avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks. We also recommend to wear SPF everyday in general! Best of Luck!
You should definitely stay out of the sun for at least two weeks after having the procedure depending on how strong the session was at what settings were used. You should wear a total sunblock and a hat if you are running outdoors. Best, Dr. Green

I would advise patients to stop any topical glycolic cleanser or retinol cream 5 days prior to the laser and avoid use for 5-10 days post laser sessions. Always remember, the most important before and after care is to use sunscreen daily.

The darker rectangular stripe is a burn caused as a result of high settings or dark pigment on the ski. The burn should be treated with a barrier repair cream usually prescription strength and sunblock or sun avoidance. I would advise the Medical Director, Doctor, PA, or Nurse Practitioner at...
Thanks for your question and your photos. Your reaction to your treatment doesn't look ideal but shouldn't be a cause for concern. Give it a few days for swelling to decrease. As far as pain, the only discomfort involved with an IPL is during the procedure, there should be little to no...
