Since birth, I've had a hairy nevus birthmark on my left cheek. It is relatively small, about an inch long and half an inch wide. I'm now 18 and I'm interested in finding a permanent way to remove or lighten it. I've been to one medical centre, and was told that my birthmark/mole was too deeply rooted to excise, especially ebcause of its placement on my cheek. I would like a second opinion, but there are not many places to go where I live. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Answer: Mole birthmark removal from the cheeks in Los Angeles
For a mole on this area of the nose, I would recommend a shave excision method. If need be to achieve better contour, a laser ablation can be performed immediately after the shave.
Because your mole is dark and irregular and is in a sun exposed area, it is important for you to have it examined and most likely biopsied. However, I fully disagree with the plastic surgeon below who frequently states that you need a complete excision with sutures and even says that you...
The level of pain and symptoms you're describing are completely normal after a small surgical excision. These generally resolve after a few days.
