You should be able to exfoliate with Amlactin as soon as you are healed from the actual injection sites. The treated veins will heal over two wks but you should be able to resume Amlactin within a 3-5 days of your treatment. Best of luck!
Thank you for your question in regards to sclerotherapy. As long as the injection site is healed, exfoliation shouldn't be a problem. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.
Amlactin is a moisturizer and you can use it almost immediately after sclerotherapy. I recommend topicals containing ammonium lactate and hydroquinone or a non hydroquinone based formula to relieve hyperpigmentation and improve the cosmetic outcome after sclerotherapy. It will take up to 2 months before you see full results after sclerotherapy. Take in consideration that sometimes the skin may become dark in the area of treatment a known side effect called “hyperpigmentation” and this is typically temporary. Other times treated areas may cause micro veins to appear, a known side effect called “matting”. If this occurs, this can be treated with another sclerotherapy session; however, treatments should only be repeated once every 2 months, no earlier. Let your skin heal the proper time after treatment maintaining proper hygiene and hydration to prevent dry skin, and always follow up with your physician for informed health care decisions. Best,
As long as you have intact skin, there is no harm to manual exfoliation, or applying exfoliating creams. If you still have any residual bruising, be sure that you use sunscreen to prevent any prolonged staining, as tanning can 'set' a bruise, or delay the discoloration from disappearing.
2 weeks post sclerotherapy should be enough time to do an exfoliation of the areas as well as apply any topical creams without causing any harm.
