Given the nose doesn't have any direct connection to the mandible or TMJ, it is highly unlikely that your rhinoplasty is related to TMJ/mandible issues.
If somebody is giving general anesthetic for rhinoplasty surgery, sometimes TMJ issues can occur when a patient is intubated with an oral tracheal breathing tube. This may be more related to your anesthesia than your rhinoplasty, especially if you felt your pain in the recovery room and it persists. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr. Joseph
It would be very hard to impossible to connect rhinoplasty with TMJ/ lower jaw problem. The only possibility that may create connection is displacement or TMJ injury in the course of difficult intubation for rhinoplasty??
My best guess is your TMJ problems are unrelated to having had rhinoplasty surgery.Lots of people have rhinoplasty surgery and lots of people have TMJ problems. It’s not inconceivable that somebody has both.Best,Mats Hagstrom, MD
