Part of Cartilage That Can Be Pressed Down? (photo)

On one side of my nose, you can push down the cartilage (the side which pushes out farther) and it feels almost like there is air under it. It feels like my nose is the same shape as the other side underneath where you can push it down. It's a thin layer of cartilage that protrudes out! Is there a way to take out the air? The cartilage feels dead or something! It's so hard to explain!
