I could have sworn an ortho assist. told me to remove aligners while using my acceledent. Now I am worried I may have messed up my treatment because I have read otherwise! Everything is tracking well, my teeth are just more sore. Should I start leaving them in and use acceledent device OVER my invisalign aligners? I change aligners weekly at this point and wear them well, about 22 hrs/day. I'm just really worried now!!!
Answer: Acceledent Invisalign Patient Instructions You need the orthodontic force on the teeth in order for acceledent to work. Therefore, you do need to keep your aligners in when using the device. Here are my modified Invisalign Acceledent Instructions for my patients:Your trays should be worn a minimum of seven days unless otherwise directed by Dr. DavidowitzAcceledent should be used for 20 minutes daily around the same time of day with aligners firmly seated in mouthOptional- When advancing to your next tray, use your Acceledent with your current tray in for 10 minutes, then replace with your next tray and finish the remaining 10 minutes. The Invisalign trays should be cleaned with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and cool water. You also may use OAP or Retainer Bright to help deodorize the traysDO NOT soak trays in mouthwash of any kind because they may become discolored or turn brittle and breakDO NOT boil, use hot water, or put trays in a dishwasher clean them.Trays should be changed at night to allow them to settle better on the teethKeep trays away from pets because they tend to chew, or even eat themIf, for some reason, something happens or you lose your current tray, put your previous tray in and call us ASAPYou may only drink PLAIN water with your trays in; otherwise, they must be taken out to eat and drinkThe blue retainer case should be used for your current tray and the red for your previous tray. You should always have at least your tray that was previously worn

Answer: Use Acceledent with your aligners on Hi there - as you must already know, Acceledent works best with your aligners on your teeth. But....rest assured that no harm occurred to your teeth and you didn't slow down your treatment to not have them in for the 7 weeks. Good luck with the rest of your orthodontic treatment.

Answer: Options first of all, no need to worry, you didn't mess anything up. But, your treatment will be a lot more comfortable when you start using the Acceledent properly. This means once a day for 20 minutes with the aligners IN. Very definitely. If you were wearing fixed appliances you wouldn't be able to take them out, but since you're with Invis leave the aligners in while you do it. And to be sure, why not call your Orthodontist's office?
