How long does it take to recover from Fractional Laser?

Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery.

The downtime after a fractional laser treatment ranges from 5 days to 2 weeks in Indian skin in my experience. Please continue the instructions as given by your doctor. Make sure to protect your skin from the sun as best as possible.Good luck!

First, we need to
know what kind of fractional laser was performed on your skin – I think from
your question that you had a non-ablative fractional treatment, but we need
more information to know exactly how to recommend post-operative treatment. We
always recommend that you keep your skin moist after these procedures, and
there are many skin care routines that board-certified dermatologists and
plastic surgeons can recommend for you to minimize the downtime that is always
associated with these procedures. Non-ablative fractional lasers have little
downtime for the most part – most have anywhere from 1-3 days of redness;
ablative fractional lasers can have upwards of a week or more of downtime. Several
good skin care routines can help with the redness and they include
Skinceuticals CE Ferrulic that has shown in studies to reduce redness in most
patients. Other growth factor topicals also work in minimizing downtime. Bactroban
can be used to keep the skin moist as can Vaseline but other things may work
better – consult with your provider.

Please follow your doctors instructions. Everyone who undertakes laser will have a very clear instruction sheet from their Specialist. I would not like to undermine their instructions, however everyone who performs fractional laser would also give you very specific skin care. I would use vaseline at least 3-4 times per day, and Bactroban as directed. Bactroban has an antibiotic within the ointment itself, whist vaseline does not. Day 3 is still early, expect the redness and grids to diminish as each day passes.
