I noticed a few days ago that when I raise my arms overhead I have this "line" (really not sure what it is. Vein maybe?) anyways, it sticks out and is painful to touch. Also experiencing a lot of tenderness around my top rib. Both problems are only on the left side. Wondering if this is something I should be concerned about or if it is normal.

Answer: Tender "Cord" below breast after Breast Augmentation The "cord" that you have below your breast is a band of ligamentous tissue that can get pulled by the sutures closing your incision or the stretching of the breast ligaments (called "Cooper's ligaments") by the implant. This is self-limiting and does not become permanent. I would use anti-inflammatories and light massage as you can tolerate, but if you do not treat this it will still go away. If the area does become pink turning to red then it can represent a clotted blood vessel or early infection, and you should see your Plastic Surgeon immediately.

Answer: Incision issue after breast augmentation This is a dilated lymphatic channel. Its not a blood clot. Its nothing to worry about. The drainage of excess fluid of the upper abdomen is toward the breast and then on to the arm pit. This is not uncommon and can be seen in thin women. It will go away on its own. Sometimes a heating pad will make it feel better.Eric Weiss MD
